Canada’s unvaccinated health care workers might be fired by the end of the month.

Starting this weekend, unvaccinated healthcare workers are to be let go, laid off, licenses lost, fired. Or some combination of. This mandate is also to cover firefighters, law enforcement, and others, but it’s our healthcare system that is already broken.

Some provinces have until the end of the month. It’s not rolled out evenly across the country. Nothing is ever consistent here. Some provinces did better handling the virus than others, and not all provinces have decided to do this. Yet.

I believe similar measures are happening in the US as well, I’m just not sure of the details or laws that are involved. Again, not all states will do this.

The percentage of unvaccinated doctors and nurses is low, but we’re way behind in surgeries. There are much needed surgeries cancelled because there is a shortage of beds and healthcare workers. Nurses or doctors — we’re short on both. Even though the percentage of unvaccinated healthcare workers is low, it still could amount to thousands that we’ll have to make do without.

Canada has already been moving patients around in the hospitals, and from hospital to hospital, which then also ties up the ambulance services.
